My dearest fam!
It’s so fun to hear about all of the things that you are doing over there! I am very happy reading all of your letters today! Way to go Shan and Xavy for having a party! And don´t worry gabby! You’re still my buddy!
It’s good to hear about all of the things that you are doing with the ward over there! I have been able to think a lot lately about the "ward family" and how very important it really is! We lack many of the activities that you all have over there but all the same coming to church for the people really is like leaving the world.
We had six investigators in the chapel yesterday! It was interesting because we taught less lessons and had less contacts and everything but we focused on the little things like stopping by to say hello or calling on the phone. We were able to have a gospel principles class that was "de diez"! It was so great to hear the investigators conversing about the difference between our church and other churches. Some of our weaker investigators were able to hear the testimonies of those who have progressed more! It really was very fantastic! Both the members and the investigators are really excited and we will be working in this next week to keep up the excitement for the next week.
Ramón is still working on getting married lol He is going away for holidays to visit family and is going to get married over there. It’s just about set in stone that he and his daughter are getting baptized, now we are working with his wife! She really likes the church but has to get over a few things first. We are going to teach them about temple marriage and eternal families!
We also have been, without trying too hard, reactivating a lot of members! Right now we are working with a family that is absolutely amazing! The Portal family! I know, awesome name right? They have two kids that are not baptized... But not for long. Never be scared to reach out to people who are less active, sometimes it just takes someone who cares. With the Portal family and others all we did is pass by and now they want everything.
My testimony in obedience is growing! This last week we had a couple of awesome experiences! First the zone leaders told us to leave an activity of our district, we were all working in one area, to go and invite the little daughter of Ramón to be baptized this weekend. We thought it was ridiculous because we have not taught her anything and we had about two days lol They got special permission and everything because she is only nine but still we did not like it. We want to baptize the family all together! The only difference would be this month and not the next. They even had us talk to the assistants in the mission, but they understood our concern for the family more. They said we could at least ask. We left the activity a bit frustrated but went and did it anyways. Like we thought, the family did not like the idea either but they ended up attending a baptism that weekend! WE also were able to talk with several other people in our area that needed us that day specifically! One sister, Mercedes, was feeling especially low and we were able to help her out! because we obeyed our leaders many great things happened. Not exactly what we expected, but there was a reason to work in our area that day.
The other experience happened today! Today is supposed to be prep day, BUT we are going to Córdoba tomorrow so they said we could only write our families and buy food real quick. I was not to upset about but a few other missionaries were. We left this morning to go work and nobody was home! Every single name that we had written in our agenda fell through. BUT we found a family! We got a reference from a lady who said her son lived on the corner but she was leaving soon. We went and talked to her son. Turns out he had just walked in the door and had plenty of time to talk with us! WE had an awesome first lesson and he got really excited as he made connections in his brain! He even quoted by your fruits you will know them in relation to what he knew he had to do! His wife was also very excited. The family was amazing and we are going to take them to church Sunday! There was a reason to be working this morning.
Ok... Now I have some bad news! Please forgive me! I have been using a little bag that belonged to a missionary who went home because mine is huge. Well it broke. So there was a day that I was carrying it around in my hand all day without a strap. The same day all the missionaries in the district came to work in my area so at the end of the day we all joined back up outside my apartment. I set my bag down right outside and when I went in all tired it got left outside. No one noticed until the next morning! But by then it had been swiped!!! You can’t leave anything outside over here. I lost my Bible and a bunch of other materials but the worst is that the same day money from the mission hadn´t arrived so I had my card from home with me!!! As well as the card from the mission. The secretary will probably call you to cancel the card but if you could do it quick that would be better. So sorry! There should not be any way for anyone to use it and they probably can’t even find it in my bag. The problem is that I just don’t have any backup money anymore. I can still get normal money through my companions card so no worries there. Sorry for the inconvenience! lol Its been quite a week. So yes I have been robbed on my mission but it was my own fault! oh bother.... There is a possibility that it will turn up, lots of missionaries find their stuff. But for now cancel the card.
Oh so we are going to Córdoba because of the Christmas conference! I get to be all cramped up in a bus from two in the morning until about eight! lol I will spend all day in Cordoba and then come back the next night by bus. Should be a lot of fun! And quite an adventure.
Love you all so very much! Can´t wait to talk for Christmas!
