No Dancing on the Ride

We wondered how they knew us so well when we saw these "No Dancing on the Rides" signs at DisneyWorld. We had to laugh every time we saw it.

If people ask about our trip we will of course say it was fantastic. People probably won't even ask because they would just assume that a trip to DisneyWorld couldn't help but be anything BUT fantastic. But under all the glitter for the "happiest place on earth" there was real life. We had worries with the gymnastic meet we were at (the reason for the trip), unexpected costs, missing tickets, and all the odd things that comes from not being at home and trying to run a family. We got tired, we got hungry, but on top of that G got sick. She has been battling with her health since last Aug and even had her tonsils removed in December hoping she'd be fine for this trip...but she wasn't. A new complication came up just days before we were to leave. We carried doctors' phone numbers with us to every park and one evening we spent calling them.

But we saw an amazing thing happen. It was like the day we missed our flight and decided to be happy anyway we gained a new level of patience. There was a deeper calm in all of us and so when all the rest of the "real life" things happened to us we were able to just deal with them and keep going. We were able to shrug off all the disappointments and irritants easier and focus on things like: DH and J who were able to have the strength to carry G around the parks, the fast pass guy who let us on even though our tickets had expired, the joy of walking up just in the nick of time to get into a ride or a show with no wait, the relief at being at our condo when a sick stomach hit G, getting through all the things we wanted to see before it was too much for G and even making our flight home with no hitches. We really felt like the luckiest people ever!

And in a world were there are a lot of "no dancing on the ride" signs we need all the patience we can get!
